The Awakenings Therapeutic Program provides a much needed at-home activities program to clients in their homes or at assisted living facilities throughout the Bay Area. The program is designed around therapeutic activities that promote physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing. These therapeutic activities may stress cognitive and expressive arts activities, such as music or art therapy. The program also provides a necessary transition from independent living to the increased socialization of home visits, adult day centers, and assisted living facilities. The focus of the program is on quality of life; the possibilities for guided activities and growth are limitless.
What are therapeutic in-home activities?
All activity that stimulates our brains and hearts can be therapeutic. The Awakenings Therapeutic Program coordinators design and facilitate a plan of activities customized to the interests and needs of our clients. Each activity is created to promote physical, emotional, and intellectual well being, inspiring elders to live happy and healthy lives. These activities can include painting, creative expression, drama, music, and brain aerobics - memory enhancement.
Awakenings Coordinators
The Awakenings Coordinators have all received masters-level training to develop and facilitate customized therapeutic programs. This education and professional training enables coordinators to assess the unique needs of each client, both in terms of cognitive functioning and possibilities for expressive art activities. This expertise enables coordinators to monitor interactions and measure progress toward the desired outcomes - specifically, awakenings or re-awakenings of interests, skills and passions.

- Process Painting allows you to unfold faculties that may lie dormant.
- Memory Training invites you to exercise and strengthen your memory.
- Reminiscence Activities make use of your recall and long-term memory abilities.
- Memory Bookmaking & Life Collage remind you of who you have been and who you continue to be.
- Neurobic Exercises invigorate your brain cells using brain aerobics and mental attunement.
- Expressive Arts Activities, including Movement and Drama Therapies, encourage play and healing through the body and the senses.
- Sound Therapeutic Activities, such as singing, playing music, and meditating to music, bring auditory and spiritual stimulation and relaxation.
- Creative Expression Activities such as Sand Tray, Jewelry Making, Flower Arranging, Yoga, Chanting, Nature Walking, Photography, Memoir-making, Salsa Dancing.
